Saudi Arabia announced themselves with a 1-1 draw against Uruguay, a side 45 places higher in the world. A 0-4 loss to Spain followed, before a 0-0 draw with Cape Verde Islands closed their Group H campaign. Two points were not quite enough, the Green Falcons edged out of the group by Uruguay on goal difference, but holding Uruguay to a draw and keeping a clean sheet on the final day were performances to build on.
